Healdsburg Planning Commission Approves Permit For New Drug Treatment Facility

The Ruse, a controversial upscale inn in Healdsburg, is on a winning streak. Per the Press Democrat, the city’s Planning Commission recently approved a permit for the inn to operate as a luxury, 13-bed drug treatment facility, after its previous plans for a private club were denied.

Adding to the good news for The Ruse’s owners, the city of Healdsburg agreed to pay them $60,000 to settle a lawsuit over the wrongful withholding of public records. This comes as the city is already facing scrutiny and other payouts related to its compliance with state transparency laws.

However, the inn’s troubles aren’t over: a group of neighbors, including a City Council member, are appealing the new treatment center permit, with the council scheduled to hear the matter on November 3rd.
