Standardized test results for the Sonoma Valley Unified School District are in, and they show a drop in student proficiency across the board.
According to the Sonoma Index-Tribune, the percentage of students meeting or exceeding state standards fell in all subjects for the 2024-25 school year. The biggest decline was in science, where proficiency dropped sharply to just 18.2%. Scores in English and math also slipped, remaining below county and state averages.
The district is now planning new interventions, including boosting foundational literacy instruction at the elementary level, to improve student outcomes.
