Sonoma County Supervisors Cancel Purchase Of Controversial Office Building

Sonoma County has canceled plans to buy a leased office building near the airport.

The board will reportedly continue renting the 56-million-dollar facility until the lease expires in 2031.

The building was part of a broader plan to house 17-hundred employees and replace aging Santa Rosa offices. Earlier this year, the county purchased two nearby buildings for 32-million-dollars, with renovations expected to raise the total to 47-million.

Supervisors Lynda Hopkins and Rebecca Hermosillo supported walking away from the deal.
