The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors unanimously directed staff to draft a formal policy banning U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and other federal agencies from staging or conducting operations on county-owned property.
According to the Press Democrat, Supervisor Rebecca Hermosillo cited a need for stronger specificity than the county’s existing January resolution provides. Staff will report back on how to implement the ban, following similar actions in other Bay Area counties, by December 9th.
Advocates are pushing for a complete ban with no exceptions, even at the county jail.
