A surfer was hospitalized with minor injuries Friday morning after a shark attack at North Salmon Creek Beach in Bodega Bay.
Per the Press Democrat, authorities responded shortly after 9 a.m. to find the surfer had already made it to shore and bandaged a bite wound on his hand. The shark also left visible teeth marks on the man’s surfboard. The type of shark involved is unknown.
While shark attacks are rare on the Sonoma Coast, the surfer eventually took himself to the hospital for treatment. Emergency personnel urge ocean users to be observant and surf with a buddy.
