Two Men Arrested Following Santa Rosa Middle School Campus Burglary

Two men are behind bars following a destructive burglary at the former Santa Rosa Middle School campus.

Police were called to the E Street campus Sunday morning after a basketball coach discovered the gym windows covered with paper and the interior heavily vandalized. Officers found a trail of damage across the facility, including smashed windows, ransacked classrooms, and stripped copper piping.

Though campus security cameras were damaged, investigators used the final captured footage to identify the suspects. Thirty-five-year-old Jonathan Delatorre and 57-year-old Robert Hamilton, both local transients, were arrested Monday and Tuesday. Police say Hamilton was found in possession of stolen school iPads at the time of his arrest.

Total damages are expected to exceed several thousand dollars. Both men now face charges of commercial burglary and conspiracy.
