A tragic accident in Sonoma Valley has claimed the life of a driver after a parked vehicle mishap turned fatal on Saturday night.
According to the Press Democrat, the California Highway Patrol reports that a man was killed in the 18000 block of Happy Lane near Boyes Hot Springs after exiting his car without shifting it into park.
Investigators believe the vehicle was still in reverse when the man stepped out, causing him to be dragged as the car rolled backward.
The vehicle eventually jumped a curb and struck a house, pinning the man against a rock wall. He was rushed to a Napa hospital but was later pronounced dead.
Authorities are still investigating the crash and have not yet determined if drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.
