Despite rain and hail, skilled trade workers at Sonoma State are entering their third day of picketing as part of a system-wide strike across the CSU.
Per the Press Democrat, members of Teamsters Local 2010—including campus plumbers, electricians, and mechanics—are striking through Friday over a heated dispute regarding promised raises. While the union argues that the CSU received enough state funding to honor their contract, university officials claim a one-time loan isn’t enough to cover ongoing salary increases.
Local HVAC engineer Kelley Greene says the stormy weather hasn’t dampened their spirits, noting that if yesterday’s hail didn’t drive them indoors, nothing will.
