Over 120 Santa Rosa Kaiser Medical Workers Heading Back To Work

After a month-long standoff, more than 30,000 Kaiser Permanente medical workers across California and Hawaii—including over 120 here in Santa Rosa—are finally heading back to work this morning.

The Press Democrat reports the union called for an “unconditional return” as of 7:00 a.m. today after seeing significant movement at the bargaining table, including a proposed 21.5% wage hike.

However, the labor peace might be short-lived; even as nurses and PAs return, a separate union of 2,400 mental health therapists just authorized a new one-day strike. They’re raising alarms over a new triage system they claim uses untrained staff to handle mental health calls, a move they say puts patient safety at risk while negotiations remain stalled.
