Petaluma Cuts Ties with North Bay Animal Services Following Abuse Allegations

Petaluma is officially cutting ties with its animal shelter provider following a disturbing animal welfare scandal.

The Petaluma City Council voted Monday night to terminate its contract with the nonprofit North Bay Animal Services. The move comes in response to reports of dozens of animals living in “poor conditions” at a separate facility the organization operated in Clearlake.

The contract will officially end on March 31st. City officials are now racing to secure an interim provider to ensure local pets are cared for while they begin the search for a new long-term shelter operator.
