A man is behind bars on suspicion of assaulting a public defender outside of the Sonoma County Courthouse.
The suspect, Leon Simms, was arrested on Friday, one day after the alleged incident. The victim was hit in the face several times and suffered significant injuries. Investigators say Simms also made threats of violence and kidnapping before driving away.
He is also accused of stealing property from the public defender during the attack. Investigators add that Simms is a former client of the victim.
