Firefighters quickly contained a three-acre vegetation fire Saturday afternoon on Sonoma Mountain Road in Penngrove.
According to the Press Democrat, the blaze, which started just after 2 p.m., was moving at a moderate rate through grass and oak woodland and threatened nearby structures, even jumping the road.
Cal Fire officials reported that forward progress of the fire was stopped by 2:35 p.m. Crews and air resources remained on scene through the afternoon to extinguish hot spots and reinforce containment lines.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and it’s currently unclear if any structures sustained damage.
