Family members are accusing ICE of detaining a man who was in Sonoma County legally.
Hector David Azana Vega was taken into custody by ICE in San Francisco on July 25th, during what was supposed to be a routine check-in. His fiancé says he had a work permit, was working, filed his taxes, had his own health insurance, wasn’t evading the government and otherwise did everything correctly.
Azana Vega was living in Sonoma County while seeking asylum from his native Peru, and has been in the U.S. since July of 2022.
