SSU Forum Draws Hundreds

Monday afternoon’s forum discussing the financial future of Sonoma State University was packed.

A standing-room only crowd of about 300 people attended the discussion on campus. The crowd included students, faculty and employees, as lawmakers and university officials discussed the best ways to spend a one-time 45-million-dollar funding infusion for SSU, which is included in the state budget.

Many of the people in attendance advocated for SSU’s sports teams, academic programs and other departments that were eliminated in January due to budget cuts. The moves were designed to reduce a 24-million-dollar budget deficit.
