Sonoma County Counsel Announces Retirement After 35 Years

After 35 years in public service, Sonoma County Counsel Robert Pittman has announced his retirement.

Pittman, who has served as the County’s top attorney since 2020, will step down in January 2026. During his time with the County, he guided the legal office through significant challenges, including natural disasters and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pittman began his career as a city planner and spent decades representing cities and special districts across California before joining Sonoma County.

In a statement, he expressed pride in his team and said he looks forward to a quieter future with his family. The County will soon begin the search for his successor.
