A large crowd gathered at Santa Rosa Junior College last night, not just for a volleyball game, but to show support for the team after three players filed a legal complaint.
The lawsuit alleges the school is violating Title IX by allowing a transgender athlete on the team. Many in the packed Haehl Pavilion carried signs with pro-LGBTQIA+ messages in a display of solidarity. The three players who filed the complaint were not at the match.
A parent told The Press Democrat that the rest of the team has united around their teammate, hoping to put the focus back on volleyball.
