The Santa Rosa City Schools board will review a proposal tonight to close Rincon Valley Middle School.
The plan would move roughly 780 students to Maria Carrillo High School by fall 2027, two years earlier than originally planned. District leaders say the accelerated timeline could save up to two-million-dollars and improve equity across the district.
Santa Rosa has already closed two middle schools and converted two high schools to 7-12 campuses. A third middle school, Hilliard Comstock, is set to close this spring, with students moving to Piner High School.
The review comes amid warnings to make up to 15-million-dollars in cuts to avoid state takeover.
