NCS Denies St. Vincent & Petaluma’s Appeals

North Bay high school football divisions are officially set for the next two seasons after the North Coast Section denied appeals from St. Vincent and Petaluma.

Per the Press Democrat, both schools argued that small enrollments and roster sizes made their new league placements a safety and competitive concern. However, officials upheld the realignment based on “competitive equity” bylaws. This moves state-champion St. Vincent up to the elite Adobe League to face the region’s largest powerhouses, while Petaluma remains in the second-tier Valley League.

While coaches expressed disappointment over the size gap, the ruling is final and official schedules are now being released.
