Owner Of Raymond’s Bakery Ready To Rebuild

A beloved West County landmark is facing a long road to recovery after a massive redwood tree crushed the outdoor dining area of Raymond’s Bakery and Elim Grove Cottages.

The Press Democrat reports the tree came down on the Cazadero property just before Christmas, uprooting concrete and destroying the venue’s stage. Fortunately, owner Mark Weiss says no one was injured and the historic 1906 “earthquake shack” cottages were spared.

Despite the damage, Weiss remains optimistic, calling the repairs his “new winter project.” Neighbors and guests have already rallied to help clear debris, and a GoFundMe has been launched to ensure the community pizza nights and concerts can return by April. Weiss says the support proves that even in dark times, “magic can happen.”
