Fire Season Officially Here

The Santa Rosa Fire Department declared Monday the official start of wildfire season.

Over the next two weeks, the SRFD will start conducting weed abatement inspections at properties across the city. The inspections are part of the city’s vegetation management program, which requires property owners to maintain fire-defensible space around structures.

There are several rules, including grass needing to be cut to a height of four inches or less. Dead plants, grass and weeds must also be removed from properties.
