The Santa Rosa City Council is meeting in a special closed session late this morning to appoint new leaders to its top two administrative positions.
According to the Press Democrat, council members are expected to name a permanent city manager to replace Maraskeshia Smith, who exited in January, as well as a new city attorney to replace the outgoing Teresa Stricker.
The high-stakes decision comes amid a major leadership shakeup, as interim City Manager Lori Ann Farrell announced she will depart late next month for a new role in Southern California. The chosen city manager will take the reins of Sonoma County’s largest city, overseeing a twelve-hundred-person workforce and a five-hundred-and-seventy-five-million-dollar budget.
A formal announcement on the appointments is expected from City Hall later this afternoon.
