Santa Rosa Man Arrested After Violent Morning Attack With Baseball Bat

A twenty-one-year-old Santa Rosa man is behind bars after allegedly attacking a co-worker with a baseball bat early Thursday morning.

Police say Jose Cazares targeted the victim while he was sitting in a parked car waiting for his shift to start near Hoen Avenue and Summerfield Road.

Cazares reportedly smashed the vehicle with a bat, chased the victim down, and repeatedly struck him in the upper torso while shouting death threats. The victim suffered moderate injuries and was hospitalized, but managed to fight back and temporarily disarm his attacker before Cazares fled.

A Sonoma County Sheriff’s deputy tracked down and arrested Cazares hours later, booking him on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats, and felony vandalism.
